September 27th. World Tourism Day.

World Tourism Day has been celebrated on September 27 since 1980. The date refers to the anniversary of the adoption of the Organization’s Statutes in 1970, paving the way for the founding of the World Tourism Organization five years later.

It was at its third session, held in September 1979 in Torremolinos, Spain, that the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization decided to institute World Tourism Day, beginning the following year, 1980. The date was chosen to coincide with an important milestone in the world of tourism, the adoption of the Organization’s Statutes.

This year, the theme chosen for World Tourism Day is “Rethinking Tourism”, to reflect on how to make tourism more sustainable, and to make it a more resilient and inclusive sector.

Dear friends and colleagues, we would like to congratulate you on this International Tourism Day. We wish you new destinations, interesting adventures, exciting journeys and unforgettable emotions. May all your dreams come true.

Sincerely, the AFA Travel team.
