The lighter ADV motorbikes

You may wonder what risks lightweight trail bikes, like the ten you’ll see below, help avoid… The answer is obvious: the lighter the bike, the easier it is to handle.

This is an interesting fact, considering that riding takes place in unfamiliar environments, sometimes filled with hazards such as highly unstable terrain, slippery surfaces, or hidden irregularities beyond your line of sight.

  1. Zero FX ZF 7.2, 131 kg

An electric A2 trail bike like the Zero FX ZF 7.2 allows you to overcome various obstacles effortlessly, starting with its lightness, combined with the absence of noise in the wild.

You’ll be an “eco-friendly” rider, and people will look at you more favorably compared to those riding a 4T enduro bike with an open exhaust… However, beware: if it’s prohibited, it remains prohibited; you’ll be thrown into the same category—or even the same jail cell.

  1. Beta Alp 4.0, 140 kg

The Beta Alp 4.0 is a minimalist creation that aims to be an A2 trail bike, weighing just 9 kg more than the previous Zero.

That might seem like a lot, and it is, depending on what you want to do with it. The price difference is another story—a huge gap. But that’s the reality today: you pay thousands of euros for a high-quality electric product versus a standard combustion engine one.

  1. Fantic XEF Rally, 140 kg

The Fantic XEF Rally is an option for the most “pro-riders” looking for the adventure of competing in a rally-style race.

The Dakar, for example? Why not? If you can afford to pay more than 16,000 euros for this trail bike, you can certainly cover the entry fee. Enjoy its featherweight build and the range provided by its declared 30-liter fuel tank.

  1. Honda CRF300 L, 142 kg

The spirit of the Honda CRF300 L goes back years, to when it was still a 200cc trail bike, later growing to 250cc and becoming one of the best options for A2 license enduro riders.

In its current version, this Honda is a solid choice for riding off-road, especially for beginners. However, on the road, its performance—like most bikes on this list—is somewhat limited.

  1. Beta Alp X, 142 kg

The Italian brand takes advantage of the same base to launch different lightweight off-road models, such as the Beta Alp X.

With a single-cylinder “three-and-a-half” engine, it heads off into the mountains equipped with knobby tires and LED lights, giving it some asphalt capability as well—for which you’ll have to spend nearly 7,000 euros.

  1. Fantic Caballero 500 Explorer, 145 kg

Adventure with an A2 license and a lightweight retro-style trail bike is possible. The Fantic Caballero 500 Explorer makes it a reality.

As mentioned earlier, this is thanks to the use of a shared platform across different models. The quality of this Fantic’s components will not be questioned.

  1. Kove 450 Rally Factory Edition, 145 kg

In China, some are already thinking about a hypothetical rally finish on the Dakar beaches, as would be the case with the Kove 450 Rally Factory Edition.

Pay attention to its name—because riding it would make you an “official pilot.” The price of this “four-and-a-half” model is still unknown, as is the case with the rest of the Chinese lineup. But its declared specs are promising: 145 kg, 54 HP full power, and a 30-liter fuel tank.

  1. Benelli TRK 251, 153 kg

Modest and clearly road-focused, the Benelli TRK 251 is an A2 trail bike designed in Italy and manufactured in China—the perfect example of a basic and accessible machine.

Keep in mind that its “two-and-a-half” single-cylinder engine doesn’t provide thrilling performance, but it does ensure a great deal of confidence for new riders… at just around 4,000 euros.

  1. Voge 300 Rally, 158 kg

Despite its enduro-like appearance, it leans more toward the trail style than many of the other bikes on this list.

That’s why the Voge 300 Rally is an excellent companion for both daily use and weekend off-road getaways—for just 4,500 euros.

  1. KTM 390 Adventure SW, 161 kg

Its aggressive “three-ninety” engine is a perfect match for a lightweight A2 trail bike like the KTM 390 Adventure SW.

For this and many other reasons, many A license riders also choose it—not only is it easier and lighter than larger adventure bikes, but it’s also more affordable and, ultimately, more playful.

We would love to have some of these true featherweight machines in our agency. With them, we could fly across the tracks of Kyrgyzstan! Personally, we see the Voge 300 as the most versatile—unless the semi-goddess Honda CRF has something to say about it.

And you? Which one would you like us to have for you? Give us some crazy idea, we love them!
