Tulpar-Kul Lake

Tulpar-Kul Lake is a high-altitude lake located in the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, near the Lenin Peak base camp. Tulpar-Kul is a small, clear lake, located at an altitude of 3,500 meters in the mountains of the Zaalaiskiy Range. It is one of the favorite places for mountaineers visiting the Alai Valley.

On clear days, the panorama of one of the highest peaks of the Pamir-Alai – Lenin Peak – is reflected on the surface of the lake water. Due to this fact, the lake is highly appreciated by photography enthusiasts.

The lake contrasts sharply with the surrounding landscapes. The soil and the hills surrounding the lake are red earth. Together with the green grass growing around and the white caps of the peak of the Zaalaysky mountain range, a beautiful color combination is formed.

Tulpar-Kul is a short distance from Achyk-Tash, the base camp of Lenin Peak. It is also possible to reach the lake on horseback from the nearest villages of Sary-Mogol and Kashka-Suu.

We visited it by motorcycle, on foot or on horseback. What is your favorite way?
