Nooruz is the main holiday of Kyrgyzstan and is celebrated throughout Central Asia on March 21, in honor of the spring equinox.
In Kyrgyzstan, for the Nooruz holiday a big table is usually prepared and the festive ritual dish called “sumolok” is cooked. Sumolok” is a festive dish of the Kyrgyz people, prepared from sprouted wheat grains.
Sumolok” is a symbol of satiety. There is a legend among the people that a long time ago, in order not to die of hunger, all the people brought and poured into the cauldron everything they had, and thus they stayed alive.
Nooruz is celebrated in style with dances, music and traditional games.
